The Quality of Truth])[14th April 1987]

The
wonderful thing about these* Qualities is that they are immanent**,
i.e. apparent without great searching, even though clouded by the
nature of the Observer. I said*** that Love is perhaps the easiest
to identify, but there is another which pervades our lives so
completely that they become, in the end, insupportable without it:
that is, Truth, which I suspect is the Ultimate Quality at the Centre
of the Circles**** and of everything else: the Absolute Truth, Holy
Spirit of God, the Spirit. This is why Truth is essential to the
inward search, and is indivisible: unless we seek for Absolute Truth
both as our objective and as our underlying method of searching, we
will deceive ourselves; unless we speak Truth in all matters to
others, we will spread confusion which in the end will return to
confuse our own perception.#
Truth
in ourselves will help us, by our understanding of it, to recognise
it (or detect its absence) in others, which is important in many
respects: throughout this discussion, statements have been qualified
'if made truthfully'#*, and that is something we have to judge in the
light of our own understanding of Truth as manifested in the external
world, in personal character, in thought, and in the inner search.
In
the light: Truth is a great light, a Clear Light, welling up from the
Centre, which it is, illuminating us all – Mind and Body, Religion
and Science – from within, which is why we all (including
Scientists) seek it within; and in the absolutely Clear Light of
Absolute Truth when we shall find it, all else will fade away.#**

is why I have profound reservations about Teachers who lie in order
to educate: revelation my be withheld, but truth must never
be betrayed, because it is indivisible.)
