What
I think this* means is that there is a class of phenomena which we
may correctly describe as having objective reality** even though they
can only be perceived (and thus validated) through the inner sense:
which I have called Qualities (I do not think these are the same as
Properties of external phenomena, e.g. softness of touch, smell,
colour: if there is doubt, what we are talking about should be
described as Inner Qualities, as they are independent of such
external phenomena).
Once
this is accepted, it follows that any
statement made truthfully (and not misunderstood) maintaining***
personal perception of an Inner Quality must not only be absolutely
true as a statement (following the content
of the statement's description, rather than the label), but must I
think also maintain*** a personal perception of something that has
the quality of absolute truth****; and if it has the quality of
absolute truth, the Inner Quality must presumably embody an aspect of
The Absolute Truth.#
*[See
last previous entry.]
**Objective
reality:
i.e. existence independent of the particular observer (but see
[[Redbook3:184-193][19870414:1003#](BELIEF
AND KNOWLEDGE (2) [continued(#)])[14th April 1987] at]
p193).
***[i.e.
claiming, claim (presumably).]
****The
quality of absolute truth:
i.e. there can be no possible doubt (once it is identified) that it
exists. This is not true of any external phenomena.
#The
Ultimate Objective.
