A late evening television programme a few evenings ago – ?The Media Show, with Emma Freud – showed how the Royal Family has moved from opening up their domestic lives to television and the public eye in the 1960s,* when Richard Cawston (I believe it was)** made the first such documentary, (“Royal Family”?),*** to control and restriction of television access now,**** in an effort apparently to create or recreate a ‘mystique’ of royalty – so much so that they can and do refuse permission to show the earlier film again.# In this they accurately reflect the changing degrees of the 64-year (outer) cycle.
