On earlier attempts,* I was unable to get much more than a few pages past the end of ‘The Night of the Sense’ in St. John of the Cross – and I think I know why.

However, looking ahead (via the contents page), I notice that the colours of the Soul – White for Faith, Green for Hope, and Purple for Charity** – only partly agree with C[ircles] A[nalysis &] S[ynthesis] colours*** (green seems to link C with A~ in my mind, or else I am uncertain of it between them). But the 10 degrees of the mystic ladder**** according to St, Bernard and St. Thomas – like the spiritual imperfections of beginners# – seem to fit petty well with the I[nner] C[ircle]:

– not so much the I[nner] C[ircle] Qualities, more the attribution of Virtues to the same degrees (– thus [above]: (UPPER CASE)).

However, it is also noticeable how many of the degrees resonate with, link with, or lead on strongly to the next, in terms particularly of the I[nner] C[ircle] Qualities (eg c to r~). (Overlap through about 45^o#* is a feature of C[ircles] A[nalysis &] S[ynthesis] – known as ‘Circumferential Resonance’,#** or the (?) ‘Stretchy Wriggle’.#***)
