It can be seen* that Matthew’s Gospel is distorted from the original pattern: use of the 7 sections, which apparently are found in the Greek Gospel, is neater:

(There is a strong contra-rotation: both halves are left and right, inner and outer.)

The arrangement in Matthew, therefore, looks more formally contrived to fit a simple outer circle with some inner circle resonances: in accordance with the repeated pattern of 7 found throughout.
