I
have certainly* known that disinterested love of the body and the
Spirit and Soul expressed by it;** in childhood, in youth, and when
full-grown; for my parents, for my brothers and sisters and some
other relations, at various earlier times; and now, of course, for my
wife and my two young children, who are all three more beautiful to
me than any official definition of beauty could possibly
circumscribe.*** And the key to that beauty, I believe, is the light
of the eyes, and the communication of that light; although I have no
doubt also that (for example) the blind have other measures for
spiritual beauty of the body, and other means of communicating it.
