[continued]

This morning I received sample copies of the British Journal of Psychology and the British Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, kindly sent to me by an extraordinarily helpful lady at the Journals Office of the British Psychological Society [...] (The B[ritish] J[ournal] of Social Psychology, and the Current Psychological Research & Review, to follow).*

It became immediately apparent from a quick glance at the Maths and Stats journal that[:]
(a) the circle is as familiar an approach as one would expect;
(b) there are mathematical methods for modelling the sort of many-dimensional variations I am thinking about; and
(c) I am not going to be able to leave Stats out of Maths, as I had hoped to do!
