Dream: Of a Psychological Test Challenged [continued]}[30th

Along
with others, I was walking through the wide passage outside the
examination hall, towards the outside doors. Passing a student
common room, I heard from the television a song, with concluding
words something to the effect of:
‘…
To be* an academic failure…!’
After
which the presenter’s voice said something about the song being by
‘The Empty Space’ – a not impossible name for a singing group.
The implications of this didn’t bother me at all, either in the
dream or when I woke up, because The Empty Space (which is the name
of Peter Brooks’ book on Theatre)** seems a clear complementary to
(and receptacle of?) Christopher Logue’s ‘Vacant Force’,*** as
well as a description of the Hollow Sphere, or the Crystal Ball
(which now sits above the poem on my desk).

‘He’s… [&c.]’?

‘The Poet Mandel’sh[t]am’s Debut’ – stuck in front of me on
my desk.
