I am often entertained (and sometimes, I admit, irritated) to read of yet another Sceptical* Society being set up by Scientists to combat religion and other superstitions and irrationalities; since the essence of scepticism is, of course, to take the same questioning attitude to all received 'wisdom'.

*(or Skeptical, as they tend to spell it)
