In those
circumstances I did not feel I could happily go away for nine months with KD,
an opportunity which I have since regretted missing. But I think I should have been anxious. Instead I wrote madly, spent a month in a
Trust Co. -- which was a revelation (so boring) -- and stayed for six weeks
with a family in Paris, which was ghastly.*
