It annoys
me intensely that I have to force myself into sterile feats of memory, knowing
(1) that in the practice of law the important knowledge is
not ‘how?’ or ‘what?’ but ‘where?’, and
(2) that in the near future electronic aids will very
probably be available to make complex memory unnecessary.
